12 Weeks of Stitchmas - Live on Facebook!

I don’t know about you, but I know one truth about fall weather: After a long hot summer, I’m so very ready for it. It’s finally fall here in Ontario, and there is a distinct chill in the air. That can only mean one thing: time to bust out those needles and hooks and get down to the business of handmade!

Since we also happen to be in the 12 week rush up to the holiday season, we thought we would help you find some awesome patterns to put your Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival purchases from 2018 to good use, and get some gifts out of the way at the same time.

Each week we will feature a knitting and crochet project that you can complete inside a week that should take 1-2 skeins. Best of all, all of the patterns are free, so everyone can stitch along with us and show off their awesome projects!

The patterns will be posted to our Facebook page each Monday at noon, and we would LOVE it if your would share your finished objects to the page and help us keep the conversation rolling!

Thank You! There are no words for how happy we are!

There are no words to thank you for taking a chance on us for our first ever Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival for 2018. Post-event surveys will be out some time next week, but we wanted to let you know that your enthusiasm and support helped make it a day beyond our wildest hopes, and we hope you will join us in 2019.

We did the count thIs morning and we are happy to announce that there were 1007 total attendees!

Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival 2019 will be held in Fenelon Falls in a new venue on Saturday June 8th at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre. We will have full use of the arena floor, comprising 17,000 square feet of vendor space. This is a well-lit, spacious and fully accessible facility in the heart of the City of Kawartha Lakes, and it should help us address some of the concerns we faced in 2018 for room temperature and aisle width.

We've included some photos below that really capture the event! We're so happy to have had you join us, and we hope to see you all again in 2019!

Event Parking Details

There are a number of parking lots available for our use at Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival. We have marked them for you on the below image.

Please do not park at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 238 on Veteran's Way, as they have a wedding taking place on June 9th and will need the spaces.  Please also use street parking at your own discretion, but be aware of hydrants and parking signage to avoid a ticket.

Parking immediately against the school on Green Street will be reserved for those with mobility concerns and parking immediately in front of the school in the designated spaces will be for the use of those with accessible parking passes. We will have BP Scouts and Scouters in the area to assist.

All vendors are asked to contact Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival Event Team for event day parking details, as they will be asked to remove their vehicles from the lots shown below.

One Month To Go!

Hey Maker!

We have a little over a month until Kawartha Yarn and Fibre Festvial and we're super excited to see you!  We're busy working to make sure the event is awesome for you, and we wanted to give you a few tips!

  1. Arrive early! We're expecting great attendance, have lots going on and we don't want you to miss out on any of the festivities.
  2. Grab your Cottage Country Yarn Crawl passport, and get it stamped! Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival is the official kick-off point of the crawl this year, and there's only one day to get that stamp!
  3. Bring a tote bag (or two!).  We still have KYAFF tote bags available for sale through this link if you're looking for one.
  4. Check in on the class board and figure out where your classes are going to be, and confirm the times. If you're still looking for classes you can click the Classes link above and register now.
  5. Check out both gyms! We have two entire auditoriums for you, filled with amazing vendors who have lots of awesome stuff!
  6. Take a seat and enjoy International Knit in Public Day.  We are official members of the IKIPD2018 community and we would love to see you get some knitting / crochet time in while you're visiting us.
  7. Grab some lunch or supper. Enjoy a meal with our on-site vendor Dolce, or click the Local link above to check out some of our favorite spots in town.
  8. Take a last lap! You never know what's going to jump into your shopping bag at the last minute!
  9. Head over to Between 2 Lakes, Fenelon Fall's LYS that just opened up this spring. Sandi and June are expecting you and have some surprises in store! HOT TIP: They're also on the Cottage Country Yarn Crawl, so you can get stamped there the same day!
  10. Swing over to Maryboro Lodge to check out the Sheep to Warm Woolies Festival. They have sheep shearing, weaving and spinning demos, and even more vendors! Grab a lamb-burger or sausage and wash it down with some Frozen Yogurt from Country Cupboard or Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream from Slices n' Scoops!

We can't wait to see you on June 9th! If you have any questions or we can do anything to make your visit more awesome, please reach out to use at kawarthayff@gmail.com

Yarnover Sleepover

This past weekend we had the opportunity to connect with knitters, crocheters and yarn enthusiasts from across Ontario at Fern Resort for Yarnover Sleepover. YOSO is an amazing event with lots of great classes and teachers that we love.

Lyn was busy teaching dying, Christi took classes on new techniques for casting on and off, Lyn's handpaint class and Mary-Pat's favorite things, and I got to enjoy classes on reversible cable knitting, finishing techniques and two-handed fair-isle.

The food, as always, was incredible, and the company was outstanding.  If you haven't had a chance to attend in the past, you should definitely check out their website at www.yarnoversleepover.com .

Now that we're refreshed and ready, we're working on finalizing the details of Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival to make sure you have an AMAZING experience as a vendor or attendee. We're now approximately 6 weeks out, and we're so excited to see you all!

If you did attend YOSO, check your goodie bag for a little treat from the KYAFF team tied to the handle! We can't wait to see you again on June 9!

Considering Classes?

Hey Maker!

We're now just 60 days from event day! We're so excited to see you all at the event.

We wanted to let you know that we have a variety of great classes available on June 9th, with teachers who are very passionate about what they do! We will not be offering sign-up at the door, but the good news is that pre-booking your classes is super easy.

  1. Swing over to our Classes page.
  2. Read the class descriptions and pick a class you like.
  3. Click on the red "Get Tickets" button just below the description.  This will take you to an Eventbrite page where you can select the number of spots you need and pay for the class. If for some reason you can't pay with credit card, shoot us an email at kawarthayff@gmail.com and we can send you a Paypal invoice.
  4. Enjoy your class!

If you don't see a class that's for you, email us and tell us what you would like to see next year! We want to make sure that you're getting exactly what you want out of Kawartha Yarn & Fibre Festival!

The countdown is on!
